On a sad note, after popping by a blog I frequent I saw a post by the blogger announcing she would no longer be blogging. Knowing how much I love to blog and talk about blogging and read people's blogs, I can imagine what a tough decision that must have been for her. She was always so sweet to me when I first started my blog and her comments always motivated me. Thank you Elrese, I hope you're not gone for good:)

On a more lighthearted note, today is Heritage Day in South Africa. When people ask me what my heritage is I'm always stumped. What a difficult question to answer (right??). All I know is I'm proudly South African.

Today's outfit is another skirt combo (skirts and striped tees, those are my staples people!) I was comfy and yet a bit dressy in this outfit and I would definitely wear it again (repeat offender alert!).

Recently my friends and I found ourselves having a very grown up convo. How do I know we were having a grown up convo you may ask? Well, one of my friends suddenly wincing halfway through the convo and going 'ooh look at us guys, we're having a grown up convo!' was a pretty big clue. All jokes aside the convo centered on the rather daunting prospect of going into the job market, of having to be self-sufficient and well...an adult. With 21 years of experience, I'm pretty good at being a kid, all reliant on mom and dad to get me by but apparently that has to end (no fair!) With a planned career in law my future plans are pretty structured. I know what I have to do after graduation to get where I want to be and while it's scary at least it's a place to start. My friends on the other hand are going into a career path where you make your own plans, follow your own path in order to be a success. With tons of talent and creativity you would think they had nothing to worry about right? Wrong. Unlike me, they don't enjoy the luxury of following a predetermined path but rather have to make one of their own. This post is just to recognize the bravery of choosing to go with their dreams despite knowing the challenges they would face and hoping they continue in that vein as we go into adulthood.

I went to Mac determined to get myself an everyday shade of brown, something simple enough to wear everyday and something that doesn't make me feel like my lips are a giant 'look at me poster' (yes, these are legitimate concerns of mine). I was determined. If you'd have asked me what I was going into Mac for I would not have hesitated to tell you. And yet, when I left...I was carrying a shade of reddish lipstick called Dubonnet. I blame the lovely sales assistant who said it 'brightened up my face' (more than any brown could ostensibly). Who would say no to lipstick after a compliment like that? Not me, obviously. I snapped it up, walked out and was more than chuffed with myself until I started to wonder...hey, what is 'Dubonnet' anyway? I felt like I'd been conned. Mac lipsticks usually have great names like 'Dark Side' or 'Mac Red' and other cool references like that which I totally get but this time I was stumped. This was until google came to the rescue! Apparently Dubonnet is a sweet, red French wine. I finally get the reference. Not being a wine snob (and I use the term affectionately) it took a while but now I believe this might be Mac's coolest reference yet (of all their lipsticks I own anyway). Like all Mac lipsticks the texture is smooth, it moisturizes and dare I say it...brightens up my face better than any brown ever could!
