African Extracts Purifying Vanishing Cream

This product is also a part of the Purifying range for oily and problematic skin. Having had a great experience with the cleansing bar of the same line I expected nothing but good things from the vanishing cream. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed. The cream left a white residue on my face and was so bad at moisturising that I had to mix it with a moisturiser I was already using if I wanted any chance of being comfortable throughout the day. It also seemed to encourage sweating, a distinctly undesired effect!
Maybe it's me and my problem skin but I have to say I found this product unhelpful. Although it didn't live up to the standard set by it's counterpart, I wouldn't dismiss the African Extracts brand completely. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. This time, with this product, I didn't win but I'm definitely still open to trying other African Extracts products in the future.

African Extracts Purifying Cleansing Bar

The cleansing bar is part of the African Extracts Purifying range which is recommended for oily and problematic teenage skin. This had me thinking it was the perfect range for me to try as I have rather oily skin which tends to break out somewhat unpredictably. What hit me first about the cleansing bar was its smell. Infused with the fragrance of Baobab the bar has this fresh, mild smell that I enjoyed. It foamed well and wasn't harsh on my skin (something which I'm constantly worried about). Better yet, it worked! From the first wash my face was less oily and after 2 weeks of use I found it, if used twice daily, to be an effective means to control oily skin. This, coupled with the reasonable price tag attached to the product, definitely has me considering this a worthy addition to my skin care routine!

African Extracts is a South African beauty house located in Cape Town. This brand is best known for using natural ingredients, most famously the Rooibos plant known for it's anti-oxidant properties, for making gentle and soothing skin care products that help with teenage problem skin and aging. The brand produces both face and skin care products and is available at Clicks stores.
I was attracted to the African Extracts display for many reasons. Amongst those reasons is firstly, the fact that the packaging is simple but striking which immediately piqued my curiosity. Secondly, when I discovered that the product is locally produced, I liked the idea of supporting a South African product. Thirdly, the products all fell in an affordable price range which was the final feature which encouraged me to give the brand a try.
