Just a quick post to show what I wore to a friend's 21st birthday dinner. It's been a bit of a challenge getting back into the swing of things with the outfit posts and beauty reviews but I'm loving it. I was originally going to wear a pair of printed paints with the top and when I put the outfit on I just wasn't loving it so I went to a staple of mine and grabbed a black maxi. Unintentionally the look became monochrome (not that I'm complaining). I broke it up with a blue mini handbag and some gold details. I had a great evening with friends and want to take this moment to wish my friend a very happy birthday:)

A Tee That Has Something To Say...

Statement tees are a big deal right now and I have to say I'm lovin' the trend! I think they're such an easy way to be casual or dressy and some of the designs are downright humorous! I own a few of these tees, having picked them up a while ago, and I hope to see more that I can pair with skirts (my staple), printed pants or simple denim. When the sun comes up I love to dress for the occassion so when the mercury hit 27 degrees celcius I figured what a great opportunity to pair my statement tee with a semi sheer maxi. A turband and necklace completed the look. When my camera started malfunctioning we had to stop snapping pics (long story...I'm hoping it's just a battery problem) but I managaed to get a few snaps in!

I Pull My Shirt On, Walk Out the Door

Today's post is all about the stripes! My sister (the lovely lady in red) and I just thought we'd do something fun and put it up on the blog. What do you guys think? There's so many ways to wear stripes (which is the reason I love them) and this post proves that! The pictures were taken on different days (as you can see by the lighting). They're not the best but there you are. I wore my outfit on a fun day out where I picked up some lovely goodies that will featured here soon!

Daddy Said You Gotta Show The World The Thunder

The weather in Durban is about as temperamental as a baby throwing its toys out of the cot. Weird analogy? Probably. All I mean is it's changing every couple of days with the sun shining brighter than ever and the humidity as its finest one minute and rain pouring the next. Durban natives will know, that when this happens...there's nothing to do but go with it!

When the sun came out I decided to pull on a skirt, some flats, a striped tee (of course) and one of my absolute favourite necklaces. It's actually one of the first I ever bought and I wear it often. It just brings a pop of colour to any outfit but the design isn't too trendy so it's something I can keep wearing for years to come.

The week has been a relaxed one so far and I'm hoping that continues. I have the next week off varsity so I'm planning on catching up on my sleep, my reading and blogging:)

My Coolpix adventures continue as I had to tangle with my tripod for this post. Hope I'm improving!

The Kids Don't Stand A Chance

I believe my post title is a quote from higher education (hah, I've got jokes). It's actually a song

that's well and truly stuck in my head which is weird, because of its pessimistic bent. Anyway, this is an outfit I wore yesterday when the weather took a turn for the worse. This sweater is literally the biggest I own. I felt like I was positively swallowed by the thing. My friends quickly informed me that I should get over myself and stop being a drama queen because it was 'meant to look that way.' That was me told! I paired the sweater with my trusty denims and a gold necklace! And while I was at it, I thought how about putting those Tomys of mine to work.

Don't Do That Pose You Always Do

That's what my sister was saying as she took my pictures for this post. I had no idea what she was talking about until she demonstrated. It appears I have stock poses (err maybe). The weather was amazing on this day. It was a whole 28 degrees (in winter that's quite an accomplishment) and my mom, sister and I went out to run errands, shop a bit and do some visiting. I love this flamingo top and I had to pair it with my dark denims (rolled up of course). My yellow handbag is never far and I added some gold neckwear. I admit I am a bit of a repeat offender accessories wise. If it works, I work it (hah!) Hopefully the 'new' poses work for y'all reading this.

My Friends Like To Take Pics of Me Talking

We went back to varsity this week (oh the joy). Despite the mild sarcasm it really was great to see my friends after more than a month of holiday. It's amazing how many fun things you miss when you're away from varsity! The first day back was filled with laughs, us talking over each other (like we always do) and a small dose of reality as we got introduced to our new modules for the rest of the year. The weather was pretty chilly (Durban apparently clued in to the fact that it's winter) so I wore my new jacket from Woolworths over my Zara tee (as seen before) with some faded denims and my current favourite pumps (also seen before). I finished the look with my a gold mecklace (I love gold lately) and threw my odds and ends into my studded bag. I would love to say we spent most of the day learning but we mostly spent it cooing over pics of Baby Cambridge (Prince George Alexander Louis that is). I'm obsessed with Kate Middleton, Price William and the baby but that's a story for another time...

Dear Striped Tees, I Love You

I am so excited to do my first full outfit post on the blog! I don't know how soon more will be forthcoming but I thought I'd share this outfit with you. This is an outfit which is typical of me. I pretty much live in skirts be they short or long or midi and this blog is called 'The Girl In The Striped Tee' so you all know I'm pretty much all about those too! I am obsessed with every bit of clothing I have on in this post. I picked up the necklace on sale at Sass Diva a while ago and in fact if you stop by regularly you would have seen it in one of my 'New In' posts. I haven't really worn it much because I had difficulty showing it off to full advantage given the collared tops I prefer in winter. The skirt is actually a mullet skirt I bought from Mr Price that I had altered because I just couldn't deal with the mullet-ness of it all. The cap toe pumps from Woolies are honestly the comfiest things to walk around in and the canvas material is what I like to think of as a fun Woolies twist to a classic, a pair of pumps. The fringe bag is still a fave as you can see and I finished the look off with my Swatch watch.
